As American troops fight for democracy and freedom around the globe, citizens of the United States are preparing to celebrate their freedom to gather, worship and pray.
Millions will answer the call to prayer on Thursday, May 1, at the 57th annual National Day of Prayer, by flocking to observances held in public venues to pray for the governmental leaders, military, media, business, education, church and families.
This year's theme is based on Psalm 28:7 -- "The LORD is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped."
The public is invited to join at the White Salmon Park Center at noon on May 1 as we unite ourselves with literally millions of other Americans at that time to pray for the world, our country and our local leaders.
Governor Christine O. Gregoire has set out a proclamation urging all citizens to join her in this special observance.
The National Day of Prayer is a Joint Resolution approved by the Congress of the United States on April 17, 1952 and has been observed annually since that time.
This local observance is being sponsored by your local Evangelical Pastors' Association.
