A three-member team of golfers representing Dolce Skamania Lodge won the 2003 Albertson's Team Championship last August and earned $20,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of the Columbia River Gorge.
Led by its PGA golf professional, Guy Puddefoot of White Salmon, Skamania Lodge defeated Sahalee Country Club of Seattle in a semifinal matchup in late August at Idaho's Coeur d'Alene Resort.
The team, which also featured a pair of former lodge associates, amateurs Shane and Felicia Johnston, followed up that win with a victory in the championship match over the Oregon Golf Club.
All told, Skamania Lodge's team won four finals bracket matches. Each win, worth $5,000, resulted in a total donation of $20,000 to the lodge's designated beneficiary.
The team challenge, open to teams from the Northwest as well as Nevada, Montana and California, began last April with a qualifying tournament. Skamania Lodge's threesome shot a 68 to earn one of three Washington berths in the 16-team finals bracket.
In June, Puddefoot and the Johnstons beat a trio of Willamette Valley Country Club golfers in the first round and Las Vegas' TPC Summerlin team in round two.
Those victories earned Skamania Lodge a spot in the championship round at Coeur d'Alene Resort in late August.
