Has spotted knapweed invaded your property? Scotch broom? Russian thistle?
Learn which weeds will take over your land if given a chance, and how to identify them in an upcoming workshop, "Noxious weeds -- the best defense is a good offense!"
The workshop will be held on July 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at the OSU Extension office, 2990 Experiment Station Rd., Hood River.
Lewis Ambers, Hood River County Weed and Pest Control, will lead the program with a slide show depicting the most invasive weed species.
It will be followed by a couple of stops around the lower valley to view noxious weeds in the field.
Lewis will also show participants how to make a wicking tool to apply herbicides safely and directly to target weeds.
The workshop is free of charge and open to the public.
It is sponsored by OSU Extension Service, WSU Extension, Hood River Soil & Water Conservation District and Hood River County Weed and Pest Control.
