Damian was appointed by city manager Steve Wheeler in September, following the resignation of former chief Devon Wells, who remains a volunteer with HRFD and Wy’east Fire District. Damian brings 22 years’ fire service experience to Hood River, including battalion chief, lieutenant and captain at Tualatin Valley Fire District, where he started as a paramedic.
Damian is scheduled to serve as interim through February, until a permanent hire is made. Damian has lived in Stevenson since 1992, and like Wells has long experience as a fire service instructor including as a visiting instructor in Hood River several years ago.
