Columbia High's boys junior varsity basketball team let a nine-point halftime lead slip away last Friday and lost at Corbett, Ore., 52-50.
"It was a good game but we faded at the end," said Junior Bruins Coach Joe Bales, whose team led 30-21 at halftime but got outscored 31-20 after the break.
"We started well, ran the court and destroyed their zone (in the first half)," Bales noted. "In the second half, they managed to slow us down with a man defense, we didn't execute well, and didn't defend well, and they came back to beat us by two."
Mark Lovrin played a strong all-around game for CHS and led the team with 13 points. Felix Torres added 11, Caleb Huth had eight, and Neal LaGrander and Dylan Rabinowitz each chipped in six.

Down 18-9 at the break, the Junior Bruins used defensive pressure and an uptempo transition to offense in the second half to put themselves in contention for the victory.
Nikki Buchanan scored seven points to lead Columbia, which got six points apiece from Joanna Villa and Kierstyn Kempton.
