Dr. Steven Sliwa, CEO and president of the Insitu Group, will serve as the honorary chair for campaign '07 for the United Way of the Columbia Gorge.
"We are thrilled to have Dr. Sliwa's participation in this year's campaign," said United Way campaign '07 chair Dave Scarborough. "His history of involvement with United Way combined with his leadership role at a leading Gorge company helps us assure that Campaign '07 will again be a banner year as we work to address the many needs of our Gorge-wide community."
Each fall, the United Way of the Columbia Gorge conducts its fundraising campaign in Hood River and Wasco County in Oregon and Klickitat and Skamania counties in Washington.
"By combining our efforts across the Gorge, we have improved our organizational efficiencies and better positioned ourselves to coordinate with our partner agencies many of which provide service in multiple Gorge communities or Gorge-wide. This is turn ensures that the donations we collect will be allocated to the greatest needs and maximum benefit in the Gorge," said United Way President Paul Blackburn. "Insitu is certainly a leading Gorge-wide presence; Dr. Sliwa's voice and support will enhance our Campaign '07, hopefully making it the most successful on record."
Campaign '07 will continue through the fall, with hopes to meet or exceed last year's campaign total of $186,545, said Blackburn.
