A 21-5 closing run carried Klickitat to a 67-51 victory over Yakama Tribal Tuesday in Goldendale, in a loser-out game of the Yakima Valley District Class 1B Boys Basketball Tournament.
Levi Sanchey scored seven of his game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter and Caleb Keys had six of his 14 as the Vandals (13-9) fended off the Eagles for the fourth time this season. Klickitat led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter but Tribal (6-10) rallied in the fourth to tie the score at 46-46.
Michael McConville and Ron Prominski each added 10 points, and Jeromie Mason doled out nine assists for Klickitat, which meets Sunnyside Christian (10-11) tomorrow, Feb. 20, in Goldendale, in another do-or-die contest for the Vandals.
In girls loser-out district action, Bickleton edged Klickitat, 42-39, in a game Klickitat led 20-16 at halftime. Katelynn Clinton and Star Kibby scored 14 points each for the Pirates (13-8), while Charice McConville’s career-high 16 and senior Kali Fargher’s 12 paced the Vandals (10-13), who got 21 rebounds but no points from Brewer.
