Horizon soccer taking one game at a time

With two close league losses last week against North Clackamas and Portland Christian, the Hawks had to put the past behind them on Saturday and focus on their next opponent: Damascus Christian.

They succeeded, with a 3-0 shut out to improve their league record to 4-2.

“Our confidence was down after last week,” Lago said. “But it turned into something to build on. I told the team to forget the last two games and look ahead. It was actually good timing because our next couple games will be tough ones, and now we’re prepared for them.”

According to Lago, the Hawks won on Saturday due to patience and persistence. Sophomore forward Kent Ueland struck first, giving Horizon a one goal lead at half time. Another goal from Ueland and one from junior midfielder Stephen Stenberg in the second half gave the Hawks the finish they were looking for.
