Students who worked hard to earn good grades for the first grading period were recently named to the honor roll. Those students include seniors Stacey Ruland and Josie Masden, and honorable mention Bernadette Campbell; junior Nathan Eaves; sophomores Devin Dean, Jimmie Smith, Dave'y Lumley, Georgie Kokos and Tim Kuhnhausen; freshman Neola Putnam; eighth grade Brian Langfield, Audrey Hill, Amy Keithly and Julie La Vallie, and honorable mention Tygh Schuster. Congratulations on your good grades!
Remember to stop by the school library from Dec. 1 through 8 to check out the annual Scholastic Book Fair. A special parent's night is planned for Dec. 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. to provide an opportunity for Christmas shopping!
As in the past, the Associated Student Body is collecting food for the Community Food Drive from Dec. 5 through 16. Community members who would like to donate food can drop off donations at either the school or the Pioneer Memorial Community Church.
In keeping with our Christmas spirit, the all-school program will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the gym. Entertainment will be provided by the students, and Santa will be handing out candy canes to the little ones after the program. Homemakers will be offering hot cocoa and cookies after the program as well.
The Glenwood/Trout Lake combined basketball teams are off to a good start, after participating in the jamboree in Klickitat and the Trout Lake Shootout last week. The boys pulled off wins against Cascade Locks and Horizon Christian in the Trout Lake tournament, while the girls lost a squeaker to Cascade Locks and beat Horizon Christian. Both boys and girls will be playing in a Snowball Tournament in Arlington on Dec. 9 and 10; and non-league games in Glenwood against Klickitat on Dec. 14 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Come on out and cheer for our teams and support our concessionaires. Remember our classes count on money from game concessions to help fund their senior trips. With only two high school games scheduled in Glenwood this basketball season, the classes will really be counting on your support of their raffles and concessions.
Our junior high basketball teams will be playing in Lyle on Dec. 8 and in Glenwood on Dec. 12. The games will begin at 5 p.m. So come out and cheer on the younger players, too!
The regular meeting of the school board will be Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
Remember the weekly pinochle games at 7 p.m. Fridays at the Grange Hall. Bingo is played the first Friday of the month.
Terry Arnold will be writing news for December. If you have items to include, call 364-3371.
