We have some happy news and some not-so-happy news to share this week.
Jim Dean was surrounded by family and friends as he celebrated one of those milestone birthdays on July 11. Joe and Kari Dean repeated their wedding vows Saturday as well, so there were two happy occasions to celebrate!
The annual Wellenbrock reunion was held at the Grand Prairie Park in Albany, Ore., on July 4. Sixty-nine family members from two to 89 years of age attended the get-together. Kin-folk traveled from Alaska, Georgia, Colorado, California, Oregon and Washington to attend the 56th Wellenbrock reunion. Next year's gathering will be held here in Glenwood on July 3.
Darrel Spies and Rhonda Jabaay were recently engaged to be married. Congratulations and best wishes to you both!
We just learned that the rodeo world lost a long-time friend when Les Patterson passed away on Monday. Les has worked in the rodeo arena for decades as a contestant, announcer and stock contractor. Les was involved in an accident as he was hauling steers home after the Ketchum Kalf Rodeo last month. Our condolences go out to Les' family -- his bright smile and kind words will be missed by everyone who knew him.
News has been scarce in our parts, if you have items to share, please contact Terry at 364-3371. Thanks!
