The 5th Annual Gorge Days and "Best Cruise-In By A Dam Site" is taking place in North Bonneville Friday through Sunday, July 10-12.
All events take place at or around North Bonneville City Park and the celebration is sponsored by the North Bonneville Business & Community Association.
The weekend kicks off on Friday morning with the city-wide garage sales that continue all day Saturday. Last year there were over 50 sales to visit. Get your map at Chevron, the Gorge Fitness Center or city hall.
On Friday evening join in the fun at a barbecue dinner in city hall parking lot followed by a sock hop street dance. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. and the DJ will start spinning at 6 p.m. Come in your poodle skirt and penny loafers. Or better yet, drive your classic car and join in the cruise that begins at 8 p.m. The dance is free and dinner will cost $5 per person.
Saturday's highlight is the "Best Cruise-In By A Dam Site," with close to 500 vehicles anticipated. The car show will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the street rods will be parked on the grass in city park. Judging of the cars takes place beginning at noon and trophies will be awarded around 2 p.m.
The day's fun includes a pancake breakfast hosted by the North Bonneville Seniors at the Senior Center, the citywide garage sales, craft vendors, food vendors, beer garden and a guided bicycle tour of the Heritage Trail system.
Fort Vancouver Regional Library is sponsoring magician Steve Taylor and a free ice cream social with old time music. The Friends of the Library will hold its annual book sale as well.
Wine tasting continues at Bonneville Hot Springs Resort in the evening. Throughout the day, Roger Hart (an original KISN Good Guy) will provide oldies music; there will be hourly drawings and much more.
New in 2009 will be a Kids Zone in the park with an inflatable obstacle course, slide and bouncy house, a rock climbing wall and a "tubs of fun" spin ride. Relax at the end of the day and watch "American Graffiti" on a big screen after dusk in the comfortable park setting.
On Sunday, join in the Second Annual Disc Golf Tournament on North Bonneville's recently completed 18-hole disc golf course, which begins at 11 a.m. Or participate in the Horizon Hoops basketball tournament.
