The Columbia River Gorge Commission will be meeting Friday in Hood River to interview finalists for the position of executive director.
The special meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Moutain View Room of the Hood River Best Western but will be conducted mostly in executive session.
According to the commission's chairman-elect, Carl McNew of Klickitat County, the names of the candidates will not be released to the public pursuant to Washington state's confidentiality laws.
"The name of the final selection, when they have accepted our offer of employment, will be the only name released to the public," McNew said. "When the interviews are concluded we expect to have a first choice candidate identified and then will sit down with that person, probably on another date, to see if we can work out the terms of a contract for employment."
Jill Arens, the commission's current executive director, is leaving the post after more than six years on the job. Her resignation takes effect at the end of January.
