Klickitat's volleyball team was busy last week, playing three Greater Columbia B League matches in a span of five days.
The Vandals won the first two of the three--against Trout Lake and Lyle--to improve their record in the GCB's Klickitat County Division to 6-3. Their only loss came in a sweep at home by Riverside Christian.
Trout Lake's Mustangs extended the Vandals to five sets on Oct. 5, jumping out to a 2-0 lead after winning sets one and two, 26-24, 25-23.
But Klickitat rallied, beating its visitors, 26-24, 25-14, 15-7 for its fifth GCB victory.
Standouts for the Vandals included senior Deidra Clack (35/35 serving, 2 aces, 9 assists, 5 kills) and sophomore Aryn Davis (7 kills, 2 blocks, 24/25 serving).
Klickitat 3, at Lyle 0 --
Aryn Davis scored six kills and Deidra Clack served five aces as the Vandals swept the Cougars, 25-12, 25-6, 15-18, Oct. 7.
Sophomore Melissa Huwe also was solid for Klickitat, connecting on 100 percent (12/12) of her serves; three were aces.
Overall, both teams put 94 percent of their serves in play.
La Salle 3, at Lyle 0 --
The Cougars fell in st444raight sets Oct. 5, serving just 87 percent in losing 25-9, 25-14, 26-24.
Heather Bremer made good on 100 percent of her serves, one for an ace. Jessica Struck scored three aces and served at a 92-percent clip.
Struck also led the Cougars with five kills and one block. Victoria Petrich added three kills and a block.
Riverside 3, at Klickitat 0 --
The Crusaders put the Vandals away in three sets last Saturday, winning 25-13, 25-17, 25-20.
Deidra Clack (10/10) and Sherri Brewer (8/8) had the top serving marks for Klickitat, and combined for all seven of their team's seven aces (Clack had five).
Brewer and Aryn Davis shared team honors in kills (2 each), while Melissa Huwe was the defensive standout with three saves.
