Klickitat County Fire District #4 will be hosting a one-day multi-agency fire drill and exercise at Bingen Point on Sunday, Oct. 26.
For the duration of the exercise, the eastern half of the boat ramp at the Port's Marina Park and certain areas at the point will be closed to the public.
The Port and Fire District remind drivers to yield to fire vehicles traveling between Marina Park and the point and ask that the public stay clear of firefighting personnel and equipment during the drill.
This exercise will allow firefighters from several local agencies to share ideas and practice techniques pertaining to the efficient drafting, transport, delivery, and discharge of water at flow rates of 500gpm or more. The drill will involve structure fire engines, portable tanks, and water tenders.
"The Port is pleased to offer local fire protection agencies an area in which to practice skills that play such an important role in protecting our communities," said Marc Thornsbury, the port's executive director.
Apart from the areas noted, Marina Park and the point will remain open to the public.
