Due to fire danger levels in Klickitat County and to help ensure public safety, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will close one segment of the Klickitat Rail Trail during the summer fire danger season.

Beginning July 18, State Parks will post signs at and close access to the trail through Swale Canyon, from Wahkiacus to Warwick. This long section of the trail has limited access points, challenging topography, remote residences and a diminished capacity for early fire detection.
