The 2003 Sprint Families in the Park series begins on Aug. 7, featuring the music of the Swingline Cubs.
The Cubs are the premier dance band in the Northwest and consist of eight members who perform a variety from the Big Band era, Calypso, Reggae and R & B. Lead singer Ruppert Blaize makes everyone feel they are part of the performance. Get ready to swing in the park.
The 21st season of Families in the Park consists of four Thursdays with the main entertainers taking the stage at 7 p.m. The location is Jackson Park at 13th and May in Hood River.
Aug. 14 will be the bluegrass sound of the Knott Brothers.
Aug. 21 will bring national jazz recording star Tom Grant and his band to the stage.
Aug. 28 features the fun sound of the ten-piece Satin Love Orchestra with their 70's sound and stage antics.
Each week is free to the public due to the generous donations of dozens of businesses and organizations.
On Aug. 7, Gorge Gymnastics will be performing as the warmup entertainment from 6:15-6:45 p.m.
The evening starts off with a fundraising dinner in the park put on by the Lions Eyeopeners Club. They will be serving a fajita dinner starting at 6 p.m. and will continue to serve food well into the evening.
There will be many food vendors in the park to fill your every desire from kettle corn to root beer floats. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the entertainment in the cool shade of Jackson Park.
Concerts will last until 9 p.m.
