A Broadband meeting was held at the Lyle Activity Center on Oct. 13. The Klickitat-Skamania local technology team received a grant to assess local needs. The team is working to determine how best to provide broadband for current and future needs. There are two surveys that will help determine the next steps for local broadband. One survey is for individuals, the other is for businesses. The organizers are asking for your help by completing the online survey by Oct. 31 and ask for residents to help spread the word on this survey. http://mcedd.org/ltpt/CMSurvey.htm. If you have questions contact Brian Wanless at ce4kc@me.com or Linda Williams at lindaj@gorge.net
On the second Saturday of each month at 9:30 am at the Hood River Cinemas there are movies offered for kids who are sensitive to loud noise, bright lights and other stimulation. At these movies the sounds are turned down, the lights are turned up, and no one gets upset if your child has to get up and move around. Kids Sense Pediatric Center in Hood River is a sponsor.
Also, if you want to check out something really cool with your kids, (of all ages) a steam engine (SP 4449) will be coming through the Gorge on Oct. 20. It will be on the Washington side. It leaves Portland around 8:30 a.m, so it should be coming through the Gorge after 9:15 to 9:30 a.m. Good nearby places to see it are in Home Valley, Dog Mountain, Swell City/The Hatch or Lyle.
The Lady Sundowners met for luncheon last Tuesday at Bingen's Beneventi's Pizza. A month's worth of catching up on news of family and friends kept them long at the table with a nod from their gracious proprietor. Then the last campout of the season found the Sundowner's and Twin City Rover's RV clubs meeting at Lewis and Clark Campgrounds over the weekend. Time was spent with relaxing conversations, a potluck meal and friendly rivalry of various games.
It's not too early to plan on either attending or participating in the Lyle Christmas Bazaar held at the Activity Center on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. If you wish to reserve a table space give Laurece Bonham a call at 365-2011.
