Samantha Brewer had 14 points for the Vandals (10-12), who opened the tournament last Friday with a 38-35 victory over Trout Lake/Glenwood.

Against TLG, Zoe Lindner’s 10 points paced Klickitat, which got nine apiece from Kali Fargher and Brewer. Liz Vogt and Lindsey Scott each put in 12 points for TLG, which trailed 13-5 after one quarter, 18-15 at halftime and 29-25 after three quarters.

On Saturday, Bickleton—a 65-15 first-round loser to SC—eliminated TLG, 49-31. Katelynn Clinton’s 29 points powered the Pirates (12-8) to victory.

Megan Anderson’s 10 points were tops for TLG, which finished its season with a 12-7 record.

The game itself was tightly contested through three quarters, with Bickleton leading 10-9, 16-13 and 24-21 at the first three breaks in the action.

But in the fourth, the Pirates struck gold, claiming 25 points in a “going away”-style win that also earned them a spot opposite Klickitat on Tuesday in another loser-out game.

Boys 1B Tournament

Klickitat’s 55-43 loss last Saturday to Sunnyside Christian sent the Vandals to the consolation bracket for a loser-out game against Yakama Tribal, the team it defeated, 55-46, last Friday on the opening day of district play.

The loss to SC was the second of the season for the Vandals (12-9), who split their season series with the Knights (10-11).

“It wasn’t much of a game for us,” lamented Vandals Coach Joe Bales. “We didn’t play well, didn’t shoot well, didn’t defend well, and we lost.”

Seniors Michael McConville and Levi Sanchey each tallied 10 points for Klickitat, which got down, 11-7, after one quarter and trailed the rest of the way, including 28-19 at halftime and 41-29 after three quarters.

Saturday was also a bad day for Trout Lake/Glenwood (5-14), which saw its season come to an end with a 65-57 loss to Tribal in the loser-out contest.

Andy Wells scored 20 points, senior Luke Dearden had 16 and Tygh Schuster added 14 for TLG, which trailed 16-14 after one quarter, 33-22 at halftime and 50-42 through three.

Tribal (6-9) also gave Klickitat everything it could handle in Friday’s tournament opener. After the Vandals opened up a 21-11 lead in the first quarter, the Eagles charged back in the second to pull within 30-29 at halftime.

Klickitat stretched its lead to 46-37 after three, then played even with Tribal in the fourth.

Noted Bales: “Even though we missed half of our free throws in the fourth quarter after they started to foul us to get the ball back, we made seven of them to pull away for a nine-point victory.”

For the Vandals, Michael McConville had 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals; Jeromie Mason tallied 15 points and Levi Sanchey added 12 points and six rebounds.

In the other first-round game, Sunnyside Christian defeated Trout Lake/Glenwood, 66-38, after leading just 14-13 after one quarter and 23-22 at halftime. The Knights took control of the contest in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagle Mustangs, 15-5.

For TLG, Luke Dearden and Tygh Schuster each scored 11 points, and Alex Whitefield had 10.
