Columbia High's girls junior varsity basketball team went into winter break with a three-game winning streak and a record of 4 wins and 3 losses.
The Junior Bruins won their third in a row at home Dec. 14, defeating Kalama, 53-30, behind Lacey Kruse's game-high 17 points. Claire Stevenson added 10, and Michelle McMillen and Britta Knutson each chipped in eight.
On Dec. 13, the CHS jayvee overpowered the Lyle jayvee for the second time, netting 26 field goals in a 52-16 victory in Miller Memorial Gym.
Kruse, with 16 points, and Stevenson, with 10, led the Junior Bruins, who did not attempt a free throw in the contest.
Four days earlier, on Dec. 9, Columbia beat Lyle, 44-17, in Lyle. Stevenson (17 points), Samantha Tumlinson (9) and Kruse (8) were CHS's top scorers.
The Junior Bruins' first win of the season--58-37--came on Dec. 5 at Kalama. Stevenson (14), McMillen (10) and Tumlinson (10) led a balanced CHS attack.
In a 28-25 loss to Montesano here Dec. 7, Kruse scored a team-high 10 points.
