Mid Columbia Community Choir will host the 3rd Annual Hymns of Thanksgiving on Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hood River Valley Christian Church, 975 Indian Creek.
The community is invited to come and enjoy the music surrounding the theme, "It's All About the Blood."
This year's event brings some exciting music to Hood River with the formation of the Thanksgiving Singers, a group of eight local people who will lead the congregation, along with the choir, in the singing of time honored hymns such as, "Sweet Beulah Land," "When We All Get to Heaven," "Thank You Lord" and others.
Mid Columbia Community Choir will present two special pieces and the Thanksgiving Singers will get your toes tapping on several great songs as well.
Other special guests include Bob Van Alstine singing a duet with Perry Cole of the moving piece entitled, "You Raise Me Up" made famous by Josh Groban.
Diana Beterbide will bring a classical element to this year's program with an arrangement of "Simple Gifts" for the piano.
"There is no better time to come together as a Christian community than at Thanksgiving time," says Perry Cole, director of Mid Columbia Community Choir. He has been leading out in these types of programs for Thanksgiving for 20 years in various communities where he has lived. "Every year I have many people come to me and express how moving and touched they were to come and be a part of this program. We have so much to be thankful for, and I want to extend a special invitation to the community to come and celebrate together this wonderful holiday, everyone is welcome."
