Columbia High's last state track and field meet in the 2A class was not one for the record book.
CHS scored its only points of the three-day meet in Cheney on Saturday, when sophomore Nikki Plante placed seventh in the girls 300-meter low hurdles final. For her effort, Plante received two points.
On the boys side, Columbia was shut out for the first time in 11 trips to Eastern Washington University. Neither senior Nolan Kenoyer, in the 300 intermediate and 110 high hurdles, nor CHS's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams qualified for finals.
Stevenson's girls team, for its part, made a strong run at a spot on the podium.
It came up three places and four points short, however, despite winning state titles in both the 4x100 and the 4x400 relay.
Stevenson finished with 44 points, which were good for seventh place in final team rankings.
The Bulldogs' top individual scorers were senior Kaitlyn Richards, who vaulted to a third-place finish in the triple jump and took fifth in the long jump for her first medals in individual events; and freshman Amanda Stump, who made a strong debut by placing fourth in the 200 dash and seventh in the 100.
Combined with their shares of relay points, Richards (15) and Stump (12) accounted for nearly 62 percent of Stevenson's scoring.
Stevenson also got non-relay points from junior Rylee Walker (fourth in the high jump) and sophomore Kate Jaco (seventh in the 400).
For Walker, it was her third medal in an individual event; for Jaco, her second.
