On Friday, Nov. 2, Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River introduces a show featuring the work of three Gorge artists -- Gayle Weisfield, Bonnie White and Frank Rieber.
To celebrate the show's opening, a reception will be held opening night from 7 to 9 p.m. Refreshments and admission are free.
Weisfield and White are watercolor artists who spent most of their formative years in Klickitat County. White graduated from Goldendale High School and Weisfield graduated from Lyle High School. Each was inspired by public school teachers to develop their talents as artists. Having grown up in the Gorge, each has an appreciation for the beauty of the area which is depicted in their work. Their paintings reflect their love of the grandeur as well as of the minutia of their home land.
Rieber, originally a ceramics artist, has worked as a metal sculptor for the last 30 years and has been juried into shows throughout the United States. He moved to Appleton in 1983 and has lived and worked there since. He is primarily represented by the O'Connell Gallery in Depoe Bay, Ore. This show will be a rare opportunity to see Rieber's work locally.
The show is sponsored by the Flying L Ranch in Glenwood.
