On Saturday evening over 200 alumni from as far away as Maine and Texas and as close as downtown Lyle came to renew school friendships, share memories and enjoy fellowship. This all school reunion was the largest ever and the most successful held. More money was raised than ever before for the scholarship fund, with the help of David Griffith (from Griffith Motors) who volunteered to auction off the many items that were mostly donated. Sunday afternoon many again gathered at the Lyle Lion's Community Center for the picnic. Later the Lyle Twin Bridges Museum was opened to a packed house. Many of the returning students wanted to see what is on display and let the museum know what they personally have to donate. All in all the Reunion Committee is a tired but happy group.
Lyle Community Council meeting is Aug. 28. Since there will be an elimination of two candidates in the this year's county Primary Election, the council is inviting Chris Mace, Rick McComas, Tim O'Neill and Julie Vance to speak. Chris and Rick are both running for Klickitat County Sheriff and Tim and Julie are both running for Prosecuting Attorney. This may be your only opportunity to hear their views and ask your questions before the Primary Election.

Taken from the History of Klickitat County, Wash., published by Klickitat County Historical Society in 1982: "Phillip and Betty set up housekeeping in the former George Struck home south of the Appleton Log Hall. Five more children were born to them; Gene, born Aug. 8, 1947, in the West Klickitat Hospital (at nine weeks he was below his birth weight and had to have surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital to remove a tumor from his stomach); identical twin girls, Janet and Jennifer, June 19, 1949, at West Klickitat Hospital; Linda, Sept. 19, 1953, and Ann, Jan. 14, 1958, both at Skyline Hospital."
Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.
