La Center sent Columbia High into spring break with a 29-4 non-league softball defeat here last Friday and a three-game losing streak.
The Wildcats scored in every inning of the five-inning contest and battered three Bruins pitchers for 13 hits.
Columbia High's highlights came in the third inning, in which it scored all four of its runs.
Senior Shelly Putnam had the key hit: a double over the left fielder's head that sent three runners home
Junior Corrine Blankenship and freshmen Ashley Poole and Kara Woosley each had one hit in the game as well.
The loss ended a tough week for the Bruins, who also lost at home to Wahtonka on March 30 and at Woodland on April 1.
Woodland finished off an 18-2 mercy-rule win by holding CHS scoreless in the top of the fifth inning.
The Bruins had four hits in the contest, one each by Blankenship, Woosley, senior Jessica Miller and sophomore Dani Gilderhus. Poole got credit for a run batted in.
And, for the second time this season, Wahtonka rallied in the late innings to steal victory from CHS.
The Eagles scored 10 runs in the top of the sixth to take a 14-13 lead. They added seven runs in the seventh to win, 21-13.
The Bruins used their own big inning--an 11-run outburst in the home half of the third--to build a 13-1 bulge.
But that was it for CHS as Wahtonka held it scoreless over the final four panes in the last softball game between the two schools.
Wahtonka is merging with The Dalles next year to form a new high school.
The Eagles avoided a 10-run-rule loss by pushing two runs across in the top of the fifth to pull within 13-4.
