The Hattenhauer Distributing Columbia Gorge Hustlers concluded an amazing season by reaching the semifinals of last week’s American Legion Baseball Single A state tournament.
The Hattenhauer Distributing Columbia Gorge Hustlers extended their win streak to 15 after sweeping an American Legion baseball doubleheader, 10-8 and 22-3, over Mountainside on July 5 at Quinton Street Ballpark in The Dalles.
The Hattenhauer Distributing Columbia Gorge Hustlers baseball team is on a roll and they’re gaining momentum toward their goal of winning a championship at the American Legion state tournament in two weeks.
As of Friday, the Hustlers had won 11 straight to improve to 23-2. After playing seven games in six days, including five home contests, the team took time off to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.
With the largest crowd of the season attending their final home game, the Dufur/South Wasco County High Rangers had an impressive performance in a 10-0 win over the No. 12 ranked Neah-Kah-Nie High Pirates (18-7) in the OSAA Class 2A/1A baseball state quarterfinals May 27 at Dufur City Park.
Everything seemed to be going in Hood River’s favor last week, as the Eagles and Gorge rival The Dalles battled for the third and final Intermountain Conference softball playoff spot.
Having home-field advantage in a May 17 Intermountain Conference doubleheader, plus having the additional inspiration provided by a Senior Night ceremony, seemed to be near-perfect circumstances for the Hood River Valley to get a playoff-clinching victory over Gorge rival The Dalles.
