Happy 94th birthday to Veneta Steinbach Lawson. Veneta turned 94 on March 3. The family helped her celebrate the occasion by having dinner at the Chinese Restaurant in Hood River.

A word about our college athletes. Jenna Dean, who is competing on the Washington State track team, threw her personal best in the javelin. Jenna threw 148 feet and placed fourth in the meet. Chelsy Wheelhouse is trying something new in her track career with Eastern Oregon State College. Chelsy is learning to throw the hammer. She is also competing in the discus.
The high school track team had its first meet in The Dalles last week. Participants were Ruth Putnam, Jodi Holly, Chris Tyndall, David Wasgatt, Mitch Wheelhouse, Tanner Beeks, Nick Kokos, Bron Tomeo and Tony Leiter. The next meet will be in Goldendale this Saturday.
The baseball team had its first game against Goldendale JV. The boys lost the game by one point.
Don't forget this Friday night at the grange hall at 7 p.m. It costs only one dollar which goes to a good cause and it gives a chance to sharpen your math skills and socialize at the same time.
If you have a chance to stop in at the White Salmon Library, there is an exhibit of art work by Lonne Williams and Sherman Rouse. There is also an interesting display of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. If you are not able to make it to White Salmon, you can always drive by Truman Keel's home and look at the local art work of the friendly bear.
Congratulations to Todd and Danielle Bales on the birth of Keaton Douglas, born March 21. He arrived a month early, but weighed in at 5 pounds 11 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.
