TROUT LAKE — The Trout Lake boys soccer team beat Faith Bible, 4-2, on Oct. 21 to clinch second place and secure a home match in the 2024 3A/2A/1A Special District 7 playoffs.
The Mustangs (11-2-2) defeated No. 3 seed Portland Christian (12-4) on Oct. 28 by a score of 2-1. Trout Lake beat the Royals 1-0 when the two teams played Sept. 9 in the second week of the regular season.
Grand View Academy, the regular season champion, was scheduled to play North Clackamas Christian on Oct. 28 in the other semifinal of the district’s Championship bracket. The losing teams on Oct. 28 will play at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at Barlow High for third place, followed by the championship match at noon.
Trout Lake girls lose in district soccer playoffs
The Trout Lake/Glenwood girls soccer team finished in the middle of the pack of arguably the toughest 3A/2A/1A district in Oregon, and then lost in the first round of the league playoffs Oct. 25.
Trout Lake/Glenwood (5-9-1 overall, 3-5 Special District 1) lost 3-0 at Riverdale in Portland in the sixth-place at fifth-place district playoff game. Riverdale qualified to play at Banks on Oct. 28 with an automatic state playoff berth at stake.
Trout Lake lost its final two regular season matches — 3-0 on Oct. 21 at fourth-place Banks, and 7-0 at home to district champion Valley Catholic on Oct. 22.
Special District 1 includes four teams ranked among the top eight in the 47-team Class 3A/2A/1A ranks: No. 2 Catlin Cabel; No. 3 Valley Catholic; No. 5 Banks; and No. 8 Oregon Episcopal.
