WHITE SALMON — Columbia High wrestlers Holden Uffelman and Matthias Posini earned top-five places at the annual Hood River Memorial Tournament Feb. 1 at Hood River Valley High School.
Uffelman was fifth at 157 pounds. He won his first match by fall over Dutch Patterson of Molalla, before losing in the quarterfinals to Gannon McNulty of Redmond High. Uffelman rebounded to win his final three matches, including a 15-7 major decision in the fifth-sixth match over Toby Percival of Oregon City.
Posini was third at 285 pounds. He won his first two matches before losing to Gabriel Nunn of Molalla in the semifinals. Posini bounced back in the third-place match by pinning Kallen Saffer of Oregon City in 39 seconds. Saffer won two matches at the 2024 OSAA (Oregon School Activites Association) Class 6A state wrestling tourney.
Columbia’s Wyatt Pulido won two of his four matches at 132 pounds, both by fall, and so did teammate Robert Grabb IV at 150. At 165 pounds, Everett Coyner won one of three matches, as did Porter Simms and Daniel Salazar at 157, and Leland Beyer at 144.
