Fresh off a big win last week against Sherman, the No. 3 Dufur Rangers beat Condon-Wheeler to solidify a Big Sky Conference championship.
Dufur ended that drama almost immediately by scoring on its first eight drives of the game.
On those drives, the Rangers ran 30 plays and racked up 390 yards of offense, including 238 on the ground.
Trever Tibbets had scoring plays of 20, 32 and 1, Kurt Nuevo tacked on a 4-yard scamper and Nick Little rushed to the end zone 18 yards and a score.
Through the air, Bailey Keever had 127 yards passing, and Curtis Crawford caught four balls for 121 yards, with touchdowns of 10, 68 and 30.
“We came out and played well tonight,” said Dufur coach Jack Henderson.
With the Rangers staked to a large lead to start the second half, reserve running backs Nuevo and David Brown did the bulk of the rushing duties with a combined 16 carries and 76 yards.
Kolbe Bales completed 2 of 5 passes for 28 yards.
“Our younger guys had their best outing in the second half,” Henderson said. “They have really improved.”
Instead of facing Jewell next week, the Rangers will have a bye week before the playoffs.
With some extra preparation time, Henderson is hoping to make sure his team maintains its edge for this big stretch.
“Our kids are intent on maximizing their potential over the next month and are working hard to continue to get better individually as well as, as a team,” Henderson said.
