PORTLAND (AP) — A 21-year-old man who shot and wounded a Portland police officer with an AR-15 rifle and killed the officer's K-9 partner last April has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Oregonian reports that Paul Alan Ropp pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated murder, assaulting a law enforcement animal and related counts in the shooting of Officer Jeffrey Dorn and his partner, Mick.
