THE DALLES — The festive season is set to begin early as St. Peter's Altar Society hosts its 46th Annual Holiday Bazaar. A beloved local tradition and the Altar Society's biggest fundraiser, the event features dozens of vendors, a full-service cafeteria, and exciting new additions like tamale sales and sleigh rides with Santa.
Event Details and New Attractions
The two-day bazaar will take place at the Parish Center, 1111 Cherry Heights Rd (across the street from St. Mary's Academy).
When: Friday, November 21st, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 22nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Admission is free, and ample parking is available at both the center and the school parking lot.
This year promises to be bigger than ever, featuring over 35 vendors offering unique crafts and gifts. Attendees can browse the popular "Country Store," which is stocked with a wide variety of baked goods, collectables and our featured “mantique” table.
New on the menu are tamales, available for purchase by the dozen or ready to enjoy in the cafeteria. Another exciting addition is sleigh rides with Santa, kindly provided by the local Kiwanis Organization, offering a perfect holiday photo opportunity for families.
As always, the Scouting of America will be present, selling their selection of Christmas wreaths.
Highlighting the Quilt Raffle
A major highlight of the bazaar is the raffle for the Altar Society's signature quilt. This year marks the 28th annual quilt, a beautiful queen-size piece with the pattern name "To Give and To Receive."
The winner of the quilt will be drawn on Saturday, November 22nd. Tickets are priced at $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 and can be purchased throughout the bazaar. The winner does not need to be present to win.
The quilt raffle is a significant part of the fundraising effort. Pictured with the quilt are Altar Society Members: Lois Dunsmore, Brenda Trapp, Linda Huteson, Kathi Hall, Gladine Hattrup, and Martha Blair. (Not pictured are Bobbie Wojtecki and Debbie Bariletti.)
All proceeds from the Holiday Bazaar are dedicated to purchasing church-related supplies. This annual event is a vital way for the Altar Society to support the parish while offering the community a fun, festive way to start their holiday shopping.
