Horizon golf has home match at Indian Creek
Horizon golfers had their lone home match of the season Monday, playing 18 holes and enjoying “perfect weather” at Indian Creek Golf Course, said Horizon Head Coach Oscar Stenberg. The boys finished fourth of four teams, carding a team score of 471, behind Riverdale (432), Goldendale (388), and winner Columbia Christian (381). Ian Walker was first for the Hawks, recording a score of 94, which put him sixth out of the 17 varsity golfers. Other Hawks golfers included Christian Cunningham (107), Andy Wang (120), and Nick VonLubken (150), the latter of whom Stenberg said completed his first-ever 18-hole match. Columbia Christian’s Typhoon Thongrakob topped the boys’ leaderboard with a score of 78. The girls varsity match featured a dual between Goldendale’s Morgan Coyne and Horizon’s Courtney Ghiz-Peters. Ghiz-Peters carded a “much-improved score of 118,” edging Coyne by four strokes to win the dual. The match was sponsored by Rosauers, Papa Murphy’s, and Dairy Queen.
