THE DALLES — South Wasco County rolled to the Big Sky boys basketball district championship Feb. 21 behind senior Jason Hull’s 42-point performance during a 79-57 win over Ione/Arlington at The Dalles High School.
The Redsides improved to 25-2 on the season and take a 13-game win streak into the 2026 Class 1A state playoffs (see related story). Coach Jim Hull’s team trailed 11-4 early but used a 10-0 scoring run before halftime to build a 41-31 lead.
Jason Hull, the coach’s son, scored 24 first-half points and finished 18-for-37 shooting from the field and added 10 rebounds. During the pivotal second quarter, Hull scored his team’s first 13 points of the period. Hull left the game after getting hit on the side of the head on a no-call with 3:30 to play — with the game well in hand. Ione/Arlington hung around early in the fourth quarter, twice pulling within 13 points.
Senior teammate Rowen Huff scored eight points, had six blocks (and numerous other altered shots) and 11 rebounds. Ryker Thompson added 17 points for the Redsides.
South Wasco advanced to the title contest with a 64-33 home win Feb. 20 over Condon.
Lyle/Wishram lost the fourth-place game to Condon, 64-58, despite senior Carson Ramsay’s 33 points. Ramsay scored 24 second-half points and 15 in the fourth period of the back-and-forth game. Lyle held its final lead at 55-54 but would only get a Ramsay 3-pointer — one of his six — and was outscored 10-3 the rest of the game.
The Cougars started the past week with a first-round road playoff win Feb. 18 at Horizon Christian. Jack Thiemann strode to the basket and made a layup with eight seconds remaining to provide Lyle with its game-winner in the 50-48 victory. Sophomore Charlie Haynie led Horizon with 23 points.
Lyle lost its semifinal game Feb. 20 at Arlington, 79-44.
