Key week awaits Hood River Valley girls soccer team

HOOD RIVER — The result of two key matches this week will go a long way in determining if Hood River Valley’s girls soccer team will remain a contender for one of four Northwest Oregon Conference berths into the 2025 Class 5A state playoffs.
The Eagles (5-4-1 overall, 1-2 NWOC) host Centennial (4-4-2, 1-2-1) on Oct. 14 and play at Parkrose (2-5-1, 1-1-1) on Oct. 16. Hood River is sixth in the NWOC, Centennial is fifth, and Parkrose fourth.
HRV had worked its way momentarily into the top 10 5A statewide rankings with its 5-1-1 start this season, but the Eagles have lost three straight since. Hood River lost 5-2 on Oct. 6 in a nonleague match at Portland’s Cleveland High, and the Eagles were shut out by La Salle Prep, 2-0, on Oct. 8 in Milwaukie. Wilsonville handed HRV is first NWOC loss, 2-0, back on Sept. 30.
