HOOD RIVER — District co-champion Hood River Valley garnered 10 of the 29 first-team all-league football selections, validating the team’s stellar playoff run during the 2025 season.
The Eagles, who finished tied along with Gresham and Milwaukie atop the eight-team Special District 1 (6-1 records), also had four players of the year as voted on by the league’s coaches. They included senior Bam Layna, co-offensive player of the year; senior Emory Croke and junior Milo Bielen, co-offensive linemen of the year; and senior Jack Miller, co-defensive lineman of the year. Eagle Coach Caleb Sperry was selected the coach of the year.
Hood River, which finished 8-2 overall and qualified for the 5A state playoffs for a school-record fourth successive season, averaged 43 points in its seven district contests. The Eagles had six first-team selections: junior Davin Snyder at wide receiver; senior tight end Nick Tuttle; Miller, Bielen and Croke on the offensive line; and Layna at running back.
HRV, led by an aggressive, stingy defense, outscored league opponents by an average of 30 points and was led by first-team picks Layna, at linebacker; Miller and Bielen on the defensive line; and senior Talon-Quinn Britt in the secondary at cornerback.
The Eagles’ second team all-league players were: Croke on the defensive line; Tuttle at linebacker; Snyder at safety; and junior Aaron Smith on the offensive line.
Hood River had four honorable mention spots on the all-league team: Britt at wide receiver; senior Cooper Wells at wide receiver; senior Miguel Arriola, offensive line; and senior Bodie Stuben at quarterback.
