Eagle boys volleyball eyes playoff spot

HOOD RIVER — Two weeks remain in the 2026 inaugural OSAA boys volleyball season and the Hood River Valley Eagles are in contention to earn a spot in the postseason playoffs.

The Eagles, ranked No. 19 out of 30 Class 6A/5A teams, are in a fourth-place tie with David Douglas in Special District 1 play. The two teams – each with 4-6 district records – play a pivotal match May 7 at David Douglas in Portland. HRV swept the Scots, 3-0, when the teams met in Hood River on April 14.

The top four teams in District 1 at the conclusion of the regular season May 16 qualify for the 14-team state playoffs.

Coach Brian Petros’ team (5-6 overall) has remaining matches against visiting Barlow (3-7 league) on May 5; at David Douglas (4-6) on May 7; vs. Reynolds on May 12; and at La Salle Prep on May 14. Reynolds and La Salle are tied for second in District 1 with 8-2 records behind unbeaten and second-ranked Central Catholic (15-0).
