The defending Special District 4 champion Dufur High Rangers won their third OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A girls golf tournament April 12 at the Riverside High School Invitational at the Marker 40 Golf Club in Boardman.
The Rangers shot a team score of 374 in the five-team event. Sophomore Tygh Timinsky was medalist with her first-place score of 74. It was the fourth tournament that she’s won this season for Coach Travis Kane’s Rangers.
Senior Molly Cochenour shot a personal-best 81 for second, and freshman Cadence Young shot a career-best 88 for third in the 14-player field. Sophomore Cynthia Medina shot 94 for fifth individually to round out Dufur’s four-player team score.
The Ranger boys were third with a 374 and they were led by junior Klayton Schanno, who shot a personal best score of 81. Senior Jared Infante (94), junior Sonny Wilson (94) and sophomore Brian Brewster (105) rounded out Dufur’s top-four scoring players.
The Rangers played back-to-back tourney’s last week as they also competed in the Trinity Lutheran High Invitational on April 11 at Brasada Canyons Golf Course in Powell Butte. The Ranger girls won the five-team event with their score of 209 in a nine-hole tourney. Timinsky was medalist with her 42 (18 players). The Rangers also had the top-three scores again as Cochenour (48) took second and Medina (54) was third.
The Rangers boys shot a 244 on the nine-hole course and were seventh place out of seven teams. Schanno led Dufur with a 52.
