Two locals, Kickstand Coffee & Kitchen owner Nick Hardin and his wife, Kim Hardin, took home the top spot in the Pro division on both days of racing this past weekend for the first round of the Cascadia Dirt Cup mountain bike race series, dubbed the “Deux-Deuro,” which was held at the Post Canyon trail system west of Hood River. Nick rides for Marin bikes and Kim for Yeti. Following right behind in the Pro Women’s field, local middle school teacher and varsity lacrosse assistant coach Bekah Rottenberg took second both days of racing, while local Nikki Hollatz took fourth and third over the weekend. In the Expert Women’s field, former 2015 Hood River Valley High School graduate Hannah Bergemann took first and second in a competitive field, while her dad Tim Bergemann took first both days in the Super Veteran Male category. Cascadia Dirt Cup organizers cut a check for $8,000 to Hood River Area Trail Stewards (HRATS) as a way to give back to the community.
