Columbia athletes fine-tune before district

The Bruins had some quality marks at the Cadet JV Invitational in Yakima, as freshman Simon Caldwell surpassed 100 feet in the discus (100-5) and also cleared 5-8 in the high jump. Teammate Jaime Perez also jumped 5-8 at the meet at Eisenhower High School.

Sophomore Maya Tama leapt a personal best 13-9 in the long jump and also ran the 800 in a PR 2 minutes, 43.46 seconds.

A handful of Bruin athletes competed at the Trico Last Chance Qualifier on May 7 at Seton Catholic. Ethan Hayes ran a 2:11.66 boys 800 to lead CHS performances in that meet.
