The No. 3-ranked and undefeated South Wasco County High Redsides captured the Class 1A Big Sky League District Championship with a 42-40 boys basketball win over Ione/Arlington on Saturday night at The Dalles High School’s Kurtz Gym.
The No. 20 ranked South Wasco County High Redsides continue to ascend higher in the OSAA Class 1A girls basketball rankings after winning six straight games, including a Big Sky League West Division, 50-47, home win over the Dufur High Rangers Jan. 17.
A spectacular season continues to get better and better for the No. 7-ranked South Wasco County High Redsides boys basketball team. The Redsides won three more Class 1A Big Sky League games last week to remain undefeated at 13-0.
The defending six-man football state champion (2019) South Wasco County High Redsides continued their recent success last spring as they went undefeated at 5-0. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, there wasn’t any playoffs though and so there wasn’t an official state champion.
The South Wasco County High Redsides have been one of the most dominating teams in the OSAA Class 1A Big Sky League recently and there’s every indication that they’ll continue to be the top contender again this season.
The Redsides reached the state playoffs three consecutive seasons from 2017-2019 and they probably would’ve made a fourth straight appearance in 2020. However, that season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
