GOP: Stop blocking ACA
In the July 9 article on Rep. Greg Walden’s visit to Dufur, Raelyn Ricarte wrote: “he was chastised by Dixie Schanno for not doing enough to address immigration issues.” Walden told the crowd that “Obama had called House Speaker John Boehner to inform him that Democrats would not consider immigration reform pitot to the November election.” Not rue.
It is time to come to earth and admit that the Senate passed the Immigration bill on June 27, 2013. And, at that time Boehner said in no uncertain terms that he would ignore the popular, bipartisan immigration reform bill passed by the Senate. The plan may have been endorsed by business leaders, labor unions, law enforcement, immigration advocates, leaders from the faith community, economists, and deficit hawks, but the Republican leader said it didn’t matter. Even if it had the votes to pass, it would never reach the House floor. Then, on June 30, Boehner said that “no immigration bill would be considered this term”. Obama has been asking the House to pass the immigration bill for a year! And it contradicts what Walden told the Dufur farmers.
When discussing the President’s Executive Power to make changes in the ACA and the lawsuit the Republicans are filing, Walden failed to note that President Bush made the same changes in the Medicare Part D, the prescription drug plan that was passed in 2003 with an all Republican Congress. Were there major problems with the rollout of Part D?
Absolutely. The Medicare site was supposed to debut Oct. 13, 2005, but it didn’t go live until weeks later. Even then, “the tool itself appeared to be in need of fixing,” the Washington Post reported. Then, once seniors began to enroll, problems persisted with “accuracy problems”.
The Democrats didn’t sue Bush for changing the implementation dates nor did they try to repeal the law even once and certainly not the 50 times that Walden has voted to repeal ACA. Instead, they worked with Republicans and accepted the challenge of educating the country’s seniors. And that is the way it should be, putting the people and our needs before party affiliation and a pledge to Grover Norquist, the NRA or any other lobbyist.
Like Dixie Schano said at the meeting, “It is time for Walden and other Republicans to come together with Democrats to find solutions to the nation’s problems.”

Only one question
Only a cave dweller would be unable to understand how President Obama and his regime are destroying the very fabric that has made this country so great. Obama’s constant attacks on the Constitution through non-stop presidential executive orders and his endless attempts at pitting the left against the right, instilling hatred and spite in any person stupid enough to believe what he says speaks volumes.
What can one expect from someone who has no experience doing anything but fund raising?
Obama’s ignorance is only overshadowed by his arrogance. He blames Republicans for every problem facing this country, all the while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), has done every bit as much to stall Congressional progress as Obama claims the Republicans in the House of Representatives have.
The ever-increasing evidence of his failing administration, ie: the Affordable Care Act, NSA, IRS, and Veterans Affairs scandals, the mess on our southern border, and his inability to make important decisions in a timely manner at home and abroad have to make one shake their head in wonder. But, what can one expect from someone who thinks being President is an eight hour a day, five day a week job? At least Obama’s golf game should be improving.
There really is only one real question concerning this President: with his divisiveness , seeming ineptitude and continuing creation of chaos in this country, is it Obama’s ignorance and lack of understanding dividing the country or has it been his plan all along?
The United States of America deserves much better!
