To the editor:
Our founding fathers gave us a plan for almost perfect liberty, providing we manage our states and counties with care and vigilance.
That plan requires an honest, moral people (that’s us) who carefully select competent, conscientious statesmen (not mere politicians) for public office.
Politicians who solicit higher taxes to cover frivolous spending; politicians who expect only a fraction of property owners to carry the whole county’s tax load; politicians who obligate citizens by arranging quiet deals with other governments or businesses, while stripping us of our natural rights and liberty; politicians who are inflexible and resistant to carefully auditing, managing and cutting public costs; and candidates who are not willing to remove oppressive, unlawfully placed representatives and mandates of state and federal governments from our county do not serve in the best interest of Wasco County.
Did Mr. Steve Kramer not pledge to uphold our rights and protect our liberty?
I’m sorry but he has failed us, miserably. We cannot afford politicians who think their solemn oath consists of echoing unconstitutional “public policy.”
Politicians might justify their “decisions” as reasonable. However, unconstitutional “public policy” and the biased findings of hand-picked appointed committees serve only to destroy our republic.
Decisions based on “public policy” strip the people of our liberty and rights while our elected officials accept unconstitutional favors and bribes from state and federal government.
I’ve had enough of Kramer and Obama politics. We are in grave danger of losing our republic. We cannot afford those who take an oath to our constitutions only to turn around and sell our republic in a backroom deal.
Although I do not know him, I’ll be casting my vote for Rodger Nichols. Of course, I will expect him to honor his oath to us.
I hope he is willing to follow both constitutions to the very letter and full intent of our framers, or explain why he didn’t. If not, rest assured, I’ll be campaigning to vote him out next term.
It’s time to vote wisely and stop paying these guys to use us up!
