My beautiful brown-eyed, curly haired boy could do no wrong either. When he was 16, I got a call that he was caught with a group that was smoking pot. I went in and thumped desk and raised all billy hell, demanding they prove it or let me take him home.
I took him home. I did that desk thump and hell raising in his defense until he was 18 — then it didn’t work anymore.
He spent two years in Hunstsville, Texas, prison before his 21st birthday.
I wish someone had taken a photo of him. Maybe I would have believed it then and cracked down while there was still time. But he could look in this mother’s eyes and lie his socks off.
Be cautioned, parents, it is not in their best interest to defend them and make it look okay when they are breaking laws. And to take your frustration at your inability to control him out on adults is the worst you can do to him.
