Letter to the editor: Bailey endorsement

As a businesswoman, attorney and orchardist, Bridget Bailey combines the right mix of professional experience and acumen needed on the Wasco County Commission. I am pleased to endorse her candidacy.

As former editor of The Dalles Chronicle, I take issue with the paper’s editorial this past Sunday.

The county commission has only marginal responsibility for the district attorney’s budget; as a city councilor, I occasionally recuse myself from deliberations; likewise, there may be instances when Bridget would recuse herself.

The same is true of every elected person in Wasco County. Why treat Bridget any differently, and in the process deny our county her expertise? Had the newspaper’s editorial board interviewed Bridget prior to making its decision, it could have asked her about this. It chose not to do so, and that’s unfortunate.

Bridget Bailey will make an excellent county commissioner. I encourage your vote on her behalf.
