Don’t get me wrong. I think that doing business with Nestlé is a bad idea. But this whole campaign to stop the Nestlé deal is emblematic of what the residents of Hood River County at large have done to every effort that the residents of Cascade Locks have undertaken to improve their economy and quality of life, including keeping their schools.
A quick look at the topography of the county seems to clearly indicate that the water in question is irrelevant to any of us who live outside of Cascade Locks. So the decision of how to use it, good or bad, should be up to the residents who do live there.
I think it is about time for all of us to invest our efforts and treasure in the economic future of our fellow residents in Cascade Locks. Surely they deserve such support as much as Hood River City and Hood River Valley.
