Our young Glenwood cowgirls, Joslyn Arnold and Peyton Sanchey, had a great time at the National Pro Rodeo (NPRA) Finals in Salem last weekend. While the Finals didn’t go as well for Peyton in Barrel Racing as she had hoped, qualifying for the Finals and finishing 9th overall for the year is really something to be proud of. That is pretty amazing considering she just finished high school this year and was competing against women with more many more years of experience than she has. We are so proud of you, Peyton. Things went a bit better for Joslyn in Breakaway Roping. She finished in 2nd place for the year. What an outstanding finish to a long year of rodeos. We here in your hometown are also very proud of you, Joslyn. Now both of these young women head off to their colleges where they’ll continue their education and compete in college rodeo this year. I’ll be sharing news of their college rodeos when they begin the fall season.
Joslyn’s dad Casey had a great Finals, too, mugging for Jason Minor in the cow milking. Jason won the championship and I like to think maybe he wouldn’t have been able to finish in 1st place if not for Casey. Way to go, Casey. I remember another NPRA finals several years ago when we were there to see Jason Minor win the championship that year also. He had another Glenwood cowboy, Johnathan Monroe, mugging for him that year. Good memories. Jason does know how to pick good muggers.
The final regular season West Klickitat Posse Saddle Club 2025 Barrel Series wrapped up last Sunday, Sept. 14. Those participating from Glenwood were Kasper and Kassidy Kreps, Brisco and Branch Monroe, Pacen Stephens, and Jentry, Jocee and Jaecee Hoctor. The lead line kids all received buckles this year. In the 9- to 11-year-old group, Jentry Hoctor finished in second for the season in a large group. She was awarded a beautiful travel bag. Jocee Hoctor placed first in the 12- to 14-year-old group and her mom Jaecee finished first in the adult group and they both received beautiful buckles. There will be a fun playday in October with costumes. Great job, everyone. Way to represent Glenwood.

The Glenwood/Trout Lake (Lakewood) volleyball team played Condon in the Glenwood gym on Tuesday, September 23rd. While the games were close and everyone played very well and strongly, our Lakewood girls lost the match in five close games. We are so proud of how well they all played. The Lakewood junior varsity won their match in two straight games. Way to go, JV girls.
