Hood River Police, Oct. 8 - 14
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assaulting a public safety officer (one), DUII (eight), drug law violation (two), felon in possession of a weapon (one), interfering with a police officer (one), resisting arrest (one), theft (one), trespass (one), unlawful possession of a concealed firearm (one), warrant (three).
Notable incidents
Eight DUII arrests. In one incident, an Oregon driver was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and interfering with a police officer. In the same incident, another Oregon person was arrested on charges of violation of a no contact order, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and two outstanding warrants.
Six theft reports. Shoplifting (two incidents), phone, purse, electric scooter, and theft of services.
Two hit and run reports. In one incident, officers responded to a call of a vehicle that was hit while parked in the downtown area. The damage was estimated to be over $3,000 with no suspect information available.
Two vehicle crashes, both non-injury. Locations included Thirteenth / May streets and Cascade Avenue / Rand Road.
Officers received a report of criminal mischief at a business. Upon arrival, officers located a rock inside the building, near a window which had been broken. No suspects at this time.
Officers responded to an unattended death.
The Dalles Police, Oct. 13 - 20
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), violation of release agreement (one), warrant (two).
Notable incidents
Officers responded to a plane crash on Oct. 19, at around 9 p.m. The first log regarded a fire near Nineteenth Street, southeast of the hospital. City and county units were advised not to touch anything, and to take of pictures of the scene, and to stay clear of any power lines on the ground.
One non-injury vehicle crash. A Chevy and a Subaru Outback crashed on Eighth Street, partially blocking traffic.
Two warrant arrests. In one incident, an individual was arrested on a felony warrant. The individual was also a suspect in spray painting on the West Second Street Annex and breaking windows in a work van, both reported the same day.
Six theft reports. Wallets, 12 gauge shotgun from vehicle, bicycle (two incidents), crate of items from Second Street.
One burglary logged. A business on Second Street found the door cracked open and the till missing from the building.
An unattended death occurred.
Twenty-three mental health calls were logged.
Two citations were issued for defecating on buildings. In one incident, an individual was denied access to a bathroom, from which they had been trespassed, and used a nearby area.
Twenty-one animal calls were logged. Incidents included alleged animal neglect, scared pit bull, dogs at large, aggressive dog, welfare checks on dogs.
A report was taken and a citation given for offensive littering.
Wasco County Sheriff, Oct. 13 - 20
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Disorderly conduct (one), harassment (one).
Notable incidents
One non-injury vehicle crash. A single-vehicle crash occurred on Wamic Market road on Oct. 19. A tire came off and there was glass in the road, which had to be closed temporarily.
A hit and run was reported from Lake View Road.
One mental health call.
Eight animal calls were logged. Dogs at large, injured deer, trespassing dog. In one incident, an injured dog was retrieved from the railroad tracks in front of Celilo Village.
Oregon State Police, Oct. 12 - 19
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (one), driving while suspended or revoked (one), unlawful possession firearm (one), warrant (three).
Notable incidents
Two non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, a trooper was on a traffic stop on I-84, near milepost 68 westbound, when a silver Kia struck two deer in the roadway while passing the trooper. The Kia was towed. The disposition of the deer was not logged.
Two injury crash reports. In one incident, a blue Subaru Impreza lost control on standing water in I-84, and struck the guardrail near milepost 52 westbound in Hood River County. The driver left the scene prior to officers’ arrival to seek treatment for minor injuries. The damaged vehicle was towed. In another incident, OSP responded to a two-vehicle crash near milepost 75 on I-84 westbound that was blocking both lanes. Statements were collected from the involved parties and witnesses. By all accounts, a white Ford van was parked on the shoulder of the road with the hazards on when a black BMV left the lane of travel and rear-ended it. Two children were in the black BMW and one was transported for minor injuries. The driver of the Ford van was also transported and received several stitches on their head. Both vehicles were towed.
The OSP Explosives unit recovered approximately eight pounds of consumer fireworks and five pounds of miscellaneous small arms ammo from the Hood River Fire Department for destruction at a later date.
A fish and wildlife trooper responded to a call from an ODFW creel sampler at the Hood River Marina. After a short investigation and speaking with an angler, a non-adipose fin clipped Coho Salmon was seized. The angler was issued a violation citation for the unlawful take of the Coho. The Coho was logged into evidence.
