Hood River Police, June 16 - 22
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), DUII (two), warrant (one).
Notable incidents
Four hit-and-run reports. In one incident, a driver reported they were rear-ended at the intersection of Button Bridge Road and Marina Way. The suspect vehicle reportedly sped off. Other locations were Columbia Gorge Family Medicine, Safeway and Full Sail Restaurant.
Two DUII arrests. In one incident, after officers arrested a local resident for DUII on June 16, a breath test showed a blood alcohol level over three times the legal limit.
One warrant arrest. Officers contacted an adult person at a “homeless camp.” The person was identified and fount to have a local failure to appear warrant on multiple charges. They were arrested and lodged at NORCOR.
One theft report. A purse was stolen from a residence.
One non-injury vehicle crash. Officers responded to the two-vehicle crash at the Second and State street intersection.
A non-resident person was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of domestic assault and criminal mischief.
A resident turned in an old firearm they inherited from their father, for destruction.
Officers secured a weed trimmer for safekeeping, as a homeowner reported it was found in their garage and did not belong to them.
Bingen-White Salmon Police, June 10 - 23
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Violation of court order (one).
Notable incidents
Four non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, a crash occurred on private property in White Salmon. In two other separate incidents, on June 11-12, collision reports were submitted from White Salmon. In the fourth, a crash occurred in Bingen on June 15.
In an identity theft incident, a person received at least four charges in White Salmon June 15.
A hazmat incident was logged in White Salmon June 18. Investigation was ongoing.
A leaf spring was returned to its owner in White Salmon.
Officers assisted with a vehicle crash where injury occurred, providing traffic control and tow forms.
A missing person was reported June 20 from White Salmon. Investigation is ongoing.
A structure fire was reported June 21.
One theft. Tools were taken in White Salmon June 21.
A White Salmon animal call was referred to Fish and Wildlife.
The Dalles Police, June 21 - 28
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), forgery (one), ID theft (one), mischief (one), theft (two), warrant (five).
Notable incidents
Twenty-three animal incidents. Dogs at large, dog questions, dog bite, lost dogs, deer hit by vehicle. In one incident, an owner was cited for dog at large. In another, a caller stated two baby fawns were stuck inside a gate on 10th Street, frantically attempting to escape — which they managed on their own, the caller later reported. In a third incident, a three-foot rattlesnake was found in front of the dumpster area for the Rivermark bank. The snake was killed with a shovel, bagged, and disposed of in the garbage.
Six theft reports: Alleged theft by employee, sleeping bag, bike (two incidents), food. In one incident, an employee of a Bret Clodfelter Way business was arrested and lodged on charges of second-degree forgery, second-degree theft and ID theft after cashing another employee’s check.
One vehicle crash. A silver Buick and another vehicle crashed at Third and Union. In involved person had a complaint of pain; Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded. One driver received a citation for driving uninsured and following too closely.
Twelve mental health calls.
A vandalism report. Someone siphoned gas out of a Toyota Tacoma and replaced it with sticks on 10th Place June 22.
A burglary was reported June 23, from a trailer parked at a Mt. Hood Street church.
An overdose was reported at Lone Pine in lieu site.
Wasco County Sheriff, June 21 - 28
Notable incidents
Deputies stopped 16 vehicles.
Two vehicle crashes were logged from Wamic Market Road June 21.
A hit and run was logged from Dry Hollow Lane June 21.
Six dogs and one other animal logged.
A marine call came from Pine Hollow Reservoir June 21, and another from The Dalles Dam on June 27.
An assault was logged June 22.
Five thefts logged. Skyline Road, Clear Lake Campground, West Sixth Street, Third Avenue and Main Street, Highway 216 East.
A death was logged from Deschutes River Access Road on June 25.
A shot was logged from Highway 216 East on June 27.
A warrant incident was logged on First/Federal Street.
Oregon State Police, June 21 - 28
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (three), driving while suspended or revoked (one), reckless driving (two), reckless endangering (two), warrant (one).
Notable incidents
A person was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of reckless driving and reckless endangering, after another driver alleged the suspect followed them aggressively and almost ran them off the road.
Three non-injury crashes. In one incident, a maroon Hyundai Elantra left the lane of travel on a curve and crashed into the trees, coming to rest 20 or 30 feet from the road. The driver walked away from the crash, and was not located. The ignition lock in the recently-sold vehicle was broken, and it contained drug paraphernalia and open containers of alcohol. State property was not damaged; the Elantra was towed. In another incident, a commercial vehicle passed a black Volvo on I-84, near milepost 66, swerving into the Volvo’s lane and causing it to hit the center median. In a third incident, a white Ram followed a Tacoma past another car on I-84, then attempted to pass the Tacoma and sideswiped it. The Tacoma spun and crashed into the rocks, and needed a tow; the Ram’s operator received a citation.
Three DUII arrests.
A citizen called in a backpack, with a gun sticking out of it, found at Koberg Rest Area. Troopers arrived and found it was a pellet gun in a black North Face backpack, which was placed in evidence at The Dalles as lost/abandoned.
A hit-and-run was logged at Memaloose Rest Area Eastbound. The victim, driving a red Chevrolet Colorado, was backing out of a parking stall when a white Subaru Outback struck the rear end of his vehicle. An uninvolved witness said the Outback went through the parking lot at an unsafe speed and left after hitting the victim, with extensive damage. A trooper checked the area and did not find it.
