Charges — Aug. 11-24, Bingen-White Salmon police charged people with DUII (1), mischief (1). Aug. 17-23, Hood River police charged people with driving suspended (1), harassment (1), sex crimes (1), theft (1), warrant (1). Last week, OSP added driving suspended (1), DUII (1), fail to report as sex offender (2), firearm violation (1), reckless driving (1), recklessly endangering another (1), warrant (2). Other agencies don’t log arrests, though The Dalles recorded five warrant-related incidents and Wasco County four.
Crashes — A vehicle collision with injuries reported in White Salmon Aug. 12, and three non-injury crashes there that week. Aug. 17-23, Hood River saw two non-injury crashes. Last week, The Dalles logged six crashes, Wasco County four — each in a different place.
Thefts — Two theft reports in Hood River Aug. 17-23. In one, a juvenile allegedly stole two cases of alcohol from a convenience store Aug. 18. Last week, The Dalles made 15 theft logs, including multiple on E. Ninth, W. Sixth, and 10th streets. Wasco County made seven arrests, including unlawful use of a vehicle and thefts at Sandy Beach.
Altercation — A resident was cited and released for harassment, offensive physical contact during an altercation in Jackson Park Aug. 21.
Un-bear-able — Four animal calls in White Salmon-Bingen Aug. 11-24: Officers failed to locate a bear; contacted owner of noisy animals; passed call to Bingen animal control. The Dalles added 16 animal calls, Wasco County eight.
Five — mental health calls from The Dalles and Wasco County.
Fraud — Two fraud logs made Aug. 14 in White Salmon.
Statistics — Two domestic violence reports from Bingen-White Salmon Aug. 17-23. Hood River reported a domestic incident. Last week, The Dalles police got two reports of suicide, 12 of domestic violence, one of assault. Wasco County added two logs of suicidal, three domestic violence, two of sex crimes.
Hazmat — A hazmat call in White Salmon was handled by another agency Aug. 19.
Drone — A drone was logged by Bingen-White Salmon police.
Burglary — Two were logged from The Dalles last week on Mt. Hood and West Seventh.
Missing — A missing person on W. Seventh, Aug. 26. Wasco County added two missing person calls reported from McDonald Way and Maupin.
Drugs — There were two incidents in Wasco County.
Gun lapse — A speeding vehicle was stopped, and the driver was cited and released by OSP for unlawfully possessing a concealed handgun.
Two injury crashes — A motorcycle crashed on I-84 near milepost 98 westbound. The rider lost a pair of shoes from his backpack, turned to look, and fell off. Bystanders gave medical assistance until LifeFlight took the rider to a Portland hospital.On Aug. 26, two vehicles crashed on I-84, milepost 83 eastbound, after one tried to pass unsafely. Two passengers from the other, stricken vehicle were taken to the hospital. Oregon State Police responded to both incidents.
Non-injury crash — A lone Honda Civic lost control on I-84 westbound due to “excessive braking” in high wind.
Arson interview — On Aug. 12, the FBI reached out to the OSP arson unit requesting information on a politically motivated arson that happened July 23, 2025, in Hood River at a local company. OSP was not involved in the arson case, but was able to track down the investigators from the local agencies that responded and put them in touch with the FBI. The investigation is being closed with a log only.
