Plane crash damages line

Wasco County Dispatch received a call at 8:56 p.m. on Oct. 19. 

Wasco County Dispatch received a call at 8:56 p.m. on Oct. 19 reporting flames southeast of Columbia Gorge Adventist Health. Shortly after, it was determined to be a plane crash; the resulting small brush fire burned roughly 2.5 acres and a BPA transmission line was damaged, causing a power outage and fiber cut effecting internet connection. The aircraft was a Cessna 152 with one person on board, who did not need medical treatment. Responding units included Mid-Columbia Fire Rescue, City of The Dalles Police, and Wasco County Sheriff’s Office. The plane was traveling from Redmond Municipal Airport to the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport.
